Autism Q & A

What is autism?

Autism is a mental health condition caused by changes in the way the brain works (neurodivergence) and how individuals interact with other people and the world around them.

Autism severity falls within a wide range (spectrum). Some cases are mild, while others are more extreme. Milder forms of autism used to be called Asperger’s syndrome, but are now often referred to as high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

AuADHD is a form of autism combined with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), another neurodevelopmental condition characterized by difficulty focusing and sitting still.

Treatments for autism spectrum disorder are highly individualized. The Doran experts tailor each to maximize mental health outcomes and your overall quality of life.
